How to Help
There are five
ways you can help the Good News Bears:
|
1. |
Donate
Critters
You can
help by donating new (or very gently loved) stuffed animals.
Contact us by email or phone to coordinate your donation
drop-off or pick up.
Email Jeanie Haigh -
jhaigh@webbearings.com
or call (925) 373-7982 |
|
2. |
Make a Cash
Donation
Cash
donations of any amount from businesses or individuals are
welcomed and much appreciated. The money you donate goes toward
purchasing new teddy bears. Does your company offer matching
donation monies? Many do! Check with family members and friends
and double those cash donations! |
|
3. |
Sponsor a
Collection
Sponsor
a collection at your church, business or club. It’s a great
service project for scout troops, too! How about a competition
between work sites, troops, or clubs? We’re happy to speak to
your group and kick off the collecting. Hearing gifting stories
first hand can inspire all ages to give up those critters dear
to their hearts. Contact Jeanie at the above e-mail or phone to
arrange a visit. |
|
4. |
Use a SHARES Card
Contact
us now to get your SHARES card that raises funds for Good News
Bears every time you shop at and Lucky, Smart Foods, FoodMaxx or
Save Mart stores anywhere. No cost to you and no private info is
shared. Just show the card and we get a percentage of your
spending! |
|
5. |
Join our Den!
Become a MemBear!
Members
meet once monthly (except for hibernation in November and
December) in Livermore to discuss distribution and to plan
community events to raise funds and public awareness for their
cause. Membership Dues: $30 per year |

What is an
acceptable
critter donation?
Please be sure that your donated stuffed animals are either new or
very gently loved (no holes or stains). Here is a list of guidelines
for donations:
-
Any type of animal - “critter” - is
welcome, not just teddy bears.
-
The critters must be clean and in
good shape. We do not have the facilities to clean and repair.
-
We can only use stuffed animals. No
dolls, toys, or battery operated toys.
-
Sizes: Beanie Baby™ to about 14”
-
If they smell dusty or musty, run
them through the dryer with a dryer sheet. Putting them in a lingerie
bag can protect the more delicate ones.
-
Just think about what stuffed animals
make you smile, what you would like to hold when you need a hug. What
can you pass on to someone needing a hug?
-
Collector bears can be used for
fundraising. We must also raise funds to purchase new bears, so some
special bears are offered a couple of times a year as prizes in our
fundraising efforts.
